Donald William Prieve

Donald William Prieve, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at HospiceCare, Inc., Fitchburg. Donald was born in Milwaukee on June 30, 1923, the son of the late William and Isabelle (Falkner) Prieve. Don was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army during WWII. After returning from service he worked for Ghisolt Co., then Goodyear and later, W.T. Rogers until his retirement. On November 6, 1944, Don was united in marriage to MaryJean Boyce. She preceded him in death on September 6, 1974.

Don was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1318. Don was fun-loving, caring, a good father, a wonderful friend, and had a great sense-of-humor. He enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting, horseshoes, gardening, baseball and bowling were some of his favorite activities.

Don is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Yvonne Nelson of Madison; children: Cheryl Brown of Belvidere, IL, Kathy Campbell of Carpentersville, IL, James (Audrey) Prieve of Lodi, and LouAnn Acker of Belvidere; Yvonne's grandchildren and children: Michelle (Issa) Fofana, Melissa Nelson both of DeForest, and Jason Nelson of Madison; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Gene Prieve of Waunakee; sister-in-law, Ellen Boyce; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, MaryJean; sisters, Merva DeNure and Noreen Prieve; sons-in-law, Jack Brown, David Campbell, and Jeff Acker; grandson, Jeffrey Johnson; sister-in-law, Delores Prieve; and brothers-in-law, Arthur Boyce and Don DeNure.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of both St. Mary's Hospital and HospiceCare, Inc. for their wonderful care and support.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospital or HospiceCare, Inc.
