Portage/Madison-Donald Eugene Spearing, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Divine Savior Health Care, Portage. He was born on September 6, 1919, in White Cloud, Michigan the son of Bernard & Jessie (Gough) Spearing. Mr. Spearing was united in marriage to Carol Berndt on July 2, 1942 in Beloit. He was resident of the Belvidere, Rockford and Beloit area until 1962 when he moved to the Madison area. He was a graduate of Belvidere High School and took aviation courses at Janesville vocational. He served in the United Sates Army Air Corp during WW II and was a member of the American Legion Serverson-Cairns Post, #501, Madison.  His life's occupation was aircraft mechanic. He worked at McChesney's Airport in McChesney Park IL and at Four Lakes Aviation, Madison where he retired in 1984. Don was a long time member of Lutheran Memorial Church, Madison where he often ushered. He is survived by his sons, Rev. David (Nancy) Spearing, Portage and John Spearing, Madison; a grandson, Kurt Spearing, Minneapolis, MN; a sister-in-law, Beatrice Haefner, Woodruff;  other relatives and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on October 18, 1997, brothers, Ralph, Merle and James, and sister, Louise Derr. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., with Rev. Franklin Wilson officiating.  Friends may call on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Memorial Church. Condolences may be sent in C/O David Spearing, 910 Prospect, Portage, WI 53901.  Cress Funeral & Cremation Service. 3325 E.
