Stoughton- Donald P. Squire, age 83 of Stoughton, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2011 at Skaalen Home in Stoughton. Â He was born in Sun Prairie on May 29, 1927; a son of William and Mabel (Stace) Squire. Â Don served his country in the Merchant Marines and later in the Army. Â On March 18, 1949, he married Jean Nelson. Â Don had a love for the land, and was a lifelong farmer. Â He loved traveling as well, and traveled all over the world. Â He is survived by his significant other, Mary Ripp; his children, Lynn Squire, Donald Squire, Jr., and Barbara (Alfred Kanzler) Squire; sisters, Bertha (Miles) Duckert, Edith Fillner, and Laura Moore; sisters in law, Carolyn, Doris and JoAnn Squire; and many nieces and nephews. Â He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Jean; brothers, Leonard, Bill, and Harold Squire; and his companion, Shirley Christianson. Â Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at noon at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerard Healy officiating. Â A luncheon will follow at the Stoughton American Legion Hall. Â The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 am until noon. Â Burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery in Stoughton. Â Memorials may be made in Don's memory to the Humane Society, or to the Salvation Army.
