Donald "Paul" Anderson

Donald "Paul" Anderson died on Friday, January 29, 2021 at his home in Waunakee. Paul was born on December 26, 1953 to Donald and Patricia (Goethel) Anderson at the Nouasseur U.S. Air Base near Casablanca in French Morocco where his father was flying planes for the U.S. Navy. He grew up in Oak Harbor, Washington on Whidbey Island where he developed a love for fishing. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing high school baseball and football. Paul attended UW Stout where he was on the wrestling team and met his wife Pam. Paul and his family owned and ran the Oak Harbor Tavern in WA. He was a commercial fisherman on Puget Sound, southeastern Alaska and on the Bering Sea in Bristol Bay. During the off-season of fishing, he earned his CDL so that he could distribute fresh seafood.  He later moved to Waunakee, WI where he drove truck for a few years until he began work at Oak Hill Correctional Institution and was employed there until his retirement.

Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, movies, water sports and a good game of cribbage. He loved dogs and spending time with family. He was fun-loving, caring, giving, and very social. He could strike up a conversation with anyone.

Paul loved being a dad and enjoyed coaching Pop Warner football and supporting his children’s sports during high school.

Survivors include his children, Patricia (Kyle) Anderson-Butt and Brian Paul (Alison) Anderson, and his grandchildren, Kaden and Carter Butt.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee, WI where social distancing guidelines will be followed.
