Stoughton- Donna Ahlgrim passed away on November 7, 2021, at Skaalen Magnolia Gardens in Stoughton.
She was born on January 7, 1931, to Hattie and Nordahl Gunness and was their only child. Donna grew up in Edgerton. One of her favorite childhood memories was riding her bike to her aunt and uncle's farm on Albion Prairie to go horseback riding.
Donna was an accomplished piano player. She played the organ in the former First Methodist Church on Main Street in Stoughton for 15 years. Donna also gave piano lessons for many years to area students. She loved animals, especially the family dogs.
In 1949, Donna was united in marriage to Charles Ahlgrim. They eventually settled in Stoughton, where they raised their family.
Donna worked for the State of Wisconsin on and off for several years. Following her retirement, she enjoyed trips to the family cabin in Mercer, Wis., going to church suppers with friends, taking exercise classes at the Senior Center, and volunteering at the Stoughton Hospital.
Donna was a big Brewers fan and an avid walker. Even in her declining health, you could see her walking in her driveway. Family gatherings and family trips topped her favorite things to do.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a niece. She is survived by her four children, Lynn (Ron) Sunne, Holmen, Wis., Charles (Vicki) Ahlgrim, Milan, Ill., Jim Ahlgrim, Stoughton, Wis., Jon (Tina) Ahlgrim, Cottage Grove, Wis. Donna adored and was very proud of her grandchildren (Krysta, Kaia, William, Erin, and Niki) and great-grandchildren (Isaac, Croix, and Dax).
She is further survived by a niece and nephew and their extended families.
Donna's family would like to extend a thank you to Marilyn (her bath lady and friend) for the past two years, the many volunteers who delivered meals to her home, and the caretakers who helped Donna in her final weeks.
