Donna Meier

Donna Marie "Bres" Meier died on August 21, 2016 at Sebring Memory Care from failing health due to dementia. The only girl and oldest child of three, Donna was born in Waukon, Iowa to Clement and Ella (Phelan) Bresnahan on May 8, 1931. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Prairie du Chien and promptly moved to Madison in 1951. She took a job working on the switchboard at Bowman Dairy. Soon thereafter, tiny little Donna was swept off her feet by John "Big Daddy" Meier. They were married in April of 1952 and nine months later their daughter Lynda Jo was born.

Donna was a stay at home mother to her daughter and two sons, Bruce and Michael. Donna showed her dedication to their well being with her excellent cooking and baking skills, volunteering at their schools, and unwavering love of them through all their ups and downs. She welcomed all their friends and animals with open arms, enjoying them as much as her own. Donna enjoyed gardening, having garage sales and selling her whimsical Monk sculptures at art shows with her daughter. She and John traveled to their condo in Ft. Lauderdale starting with one month and eventually staying as long as six months. She loved watching her grandsons in all their sports endeavors and truly missed it when that time of their lives was over. We are blessed that she was aware of and treasured the birth of her only great grandson in March. Donna was a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish.

Donna is survived by her sons, Bruce (Amanda) and Michael (Susan Gallo), her three grandsons; Austin (fianc�e Olya Trepakov), Jordan, and Max (Melissa) Meier, and her great grandson Mason Meier. She is further survived by her brother Art (Judi) and sister in law Darlene Bresnahan, as well as their children. Her niece, Kathy Bresnahan, held a very special place in Donna's heart. Her brother in laws Dean Meier and Don (Betty) Meier and sister in law Shirley Meier survive her also.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, her daughter Lynda, her brother Daniel Bresnahan, brother in laws Jim Meier, Charles Meier and their parents, RJ and Edith Meier.

Private family services were held.
