Doris C. Ardelt

September 23, 1925 — July 16, 2010

Madison - Doris C. Ardelt of All Saints Retirement Center, passed away on Friday July 16, 2010 at Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare at age 84. She was born in Hazelton North Dakota, on Sep 23, 1925, to Arno and Melinda Capelle and later moved to Plymouth.   She was a graduate of Whitewater University with a major in business, where she met her future husband.   Doris married John R Ardelt of Whitewater on May 14, 1949.   She was a teacher in the Wisconsin school system teaching all over the State as well as in the Wisconsin prison system.  She retired in 1980.   Doris was a wonderful lady that always put the needs of others above her own, guiding and nurturing her four children. Doris enjoyed playing bridge and euchre, but especially canasta, with her family, which she did right up to her death. She was deeply faithful, a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for 45 years, rarely missing services.   Doris is survived by her daughters, Linda (Lynn) Martin, Sun Prairie and Suzanne Ardelt, Verona; sons; Michael (Georgia) Ardelt, San Diego, Calif., and Mark (Carol) Ardelt, San Antonio, Texas,; brother; Elwood (Ruth) Capelle, Phoenix Ariz.; sisters, Laverne Hamilton, Colorado Springs, Colo. and Marion Reeder, Denver Colo.; grandchildren, Brian (June) Owens, Moody AFB, Ga., Michelle (Brian) Philbin and Elizabeth (Anthony) Crumrine, San Diego, Calif., and Scott, Justin and Nicholas Ardelt in England; great grandchildren, Kaleb Owens, Valdosta, Ga., and Theo Ardelt in England; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Karen, and husband John. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Road, Madison. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.  Memorials in Doris's name may be made to the American Lung Association and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
