Madison - Doris Mae Jordan, age 84, passed away peacefully Friday, May 28, 2010 at Oakwood Village West. Doris was born on October 21, 1925 in Madison, Wisconsin. She was baptized, educated, married and remained a committed member of St. Patrick's Parish in Madison throughout her life. As a young girl, Doris walked Father Knox to school each morning; as a young woman she sang in the church choir; and as an adult she taught catechism classes. In her later years of life, she was always appreciative of the support given to her by the parish staff. During her life, Doris was employed at the Lorraine Hotel and the payroll department for Wisconsin Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company. She was accomplished in quilting, cross-stitching, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Owning and showing dogs was one of Doris's passions when she was a young woman. Doris also enjoyed arts and crafts, line dancing, card-playing, and sharing these talents with the seniors in her community. She was a voracious reader, and an active volunteer at the West Side Senior Center where she served as an advocate for the elderly. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Grace (Daniels) and Leo Lester, as well as her sister, Ruth Jacob. She is survived by: a daughter, Susan Jordan Hubbard of Madison, Wisconsin and a son, Jeffrey Jordan of New Haven, Connecticut, four grandchildren, Steven Hubbard (Terese) of Madison, Elizabeth Kepler (Kyle) of Mazomanie, Emily Huttenburg (Eric) of Sun Prairie, and Andrew Jordan of New Haven, four great-grandchildren, Emma Jordan and Adeline Elizabeth Hubbard, Channing Anastasia and Ozur Anton Kepler, and a sister, Jean Lineweber (Robert). The family expresses deep gratitude to Doctor Robert Olson, Meriter Hospital Staff, and Oakwood Village (West) Staff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church at 404 E. Main Street, Madison, Wisconsin on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 10:30am. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Waunakee immediately following the service. Cress Funeral Home is serving the family.
