Dorothy Bauer

Madison- Dorothy H. Bauer (Westphal), age 87, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018 at New Glarus Home. Dorothy was born July 13, 1930 to Ludwig and Elsa (Schultz) Westphal in Hillpoint, WI. Dorothy met George J. Bauer in 1952 and married on October 2, 1954, eventually settling in Madison in 1963. George and Dorothy were married 62 years. Dorothy became a beautician and loved people-- helping them feel and look beautiful. She worked 60 years until the age of 80 and ended her career at Edward's Salon in Madison. Dorothy loved attending family reunions and had many stories of her childhood to tell. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and her church family was extremely important to her.

Dorothy is survived by her brother Vern (Dee) Westphal; her sister-in-law Marge (Otto) Westphal; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband George in 2016; her parents; brothers Reinhardt, Otto, Rudolf, and other family friends.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1021 Spaight Street, Madison, with the Rev. Michael Erdman presiding. Burial will be at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Myrtle Street (north of Mary Ave.), Reedsburg. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Glarus Home, 600 2nd Ave., New Glarus WI or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
