MADISON- Dorothy B. (Bushnell) Drives, age 95, passed away peacefully, on April 25, 2014, at Agrace Hospice with her son at her side.

She was born in Madison on May 24, 1918, to Alfred and Mary (Gasser) Bushnell and has resided in Madison for most of her life. She attended Randall School, Madison West High School and was a third generation graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where she received a degree in Natural Science. She had great pride in her family's extensive ties to the University.

During her student years at the University of Wisconsin, she met Robert (Bob) Drives, also from Madison. Their relationship was interrupted by WWII during which she joined the American Red Cross and served at US Armed Forces Hospitals around the country while he was stationed in England as he served over-seas in the Air Force. They were reunited after his return and were married in 1946 and Bob finished his final year at UW. After graduation, they built their first home, doing most of the design and physical work themselves. Before the house was finished, Bob was recalled to active duty for the Korean War. Dorothy continued her service with the Red Cross and joined him at Hickham Field, Hawaii. They were married for 63 years and remained together up to the time of his passing in 2010. Dorothy and Bob had most recently resided at Oakwood Village West.

Dorothy loved golfing, curling, bridge, gardening and visiting museums. She was very active in the community with life-long memberships with the University of Wisconsin Alumnae Club, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority -- Beta Chapter, the Bascom Hill Society, the American Assoc. of University Women, Blackhawk Country Club and an honorary life member of the Madison Curling Club as well as being an avid Badger Booster.
