Dorothy Hughes

Dorothy Lucille (Peck) Hughes was born in Madison, Wisconsin on January 24, 1919. She made Heaven her home on December 14, 2015.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Dorothy was the heart and soul of her family. She raised her children and grandchildren to love the Lord and her unwavering faith is the legacy she leaves behind. Dorothy was a beloved member of Calvary Gospel Church in Madison, Wisconsin for over forty years and to most she was Grandma Hughes.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty three years, Raymond J. Hughes. She was also preceded by her parents, siblings, and six of her children; Larry Hughes, Ronald Hughes, Linda Jean Hughes, Sharon Ragon, Renee' Sutterfield, and Raymond Hughes Jr. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Sandy (Ken) Wells, seventeen grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Her daughter, Sandy (Ken) Wells and granddaughters, Lynae (Russell) Looney and Rachael (John) Corvo lovingly cared for her the last 14 years of her life. Dorothy was a resident at Sarah Moore Healthcare Center in Delaware, Ohio for almost 10 years. The family gives them and everyone else that cared for her their greatest gratitude.
In Dorothy's lifetime she endured tremendous loss but though it all she continued to bless those around her. She has fought a good long fight, she has finished her course, and through it all she kept her faith. For this is not goodbye because we will meet again on the other side.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at Calvary Gospel Church 5301 Commercial Ave, Madison, WI. with Rev. Roy Grant officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00am until time of service.
