Stoughton- Dorothy G. Kangas, age 91, left this world on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 to be with friends and loved ones who preceded her. She was born in Cottage Grove on January 30, 1920 the daughter of Ben and Marie (Felland) Quale. Dorothy graduated from Stoughton High School in 1938. On June 17, 1938 she married F. Dean Hanson of Cooksville. The first few years of their marriage they lived in the Edgerton area where Dorothy worked at Lintz Drug Store. The majority of their life was spent farming in Pleasant Springs. Dean preceded her in death in 1971. On July 14, 1973 Dorothy married Kenneth Kangas. They enjoyed travelling, wintering in Arizona and summers at the cabin in Phillips. Following Ken's death Dorothy returned to Stoughton. She was an active member of West Koshkonong Lutheran Church and a dedicated volunteer at Skaalen Home. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Dennis (Marilyn) Hanson of Lakewood, CO, Dale (Shirley) Hanson of Stoughton and Donna (Ken) Lerner of Tucson, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and sister, Charlotte Jacobson of Stoughton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and two brothers, Irving and Bertrand. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2011 at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 1911 Koshkonong Road, with Rev. Richard Dowling officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon in the church fellowship hall following the burial. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services Friday. Memorials may be made to Skaalen Sunset Home. A special thank you to the staffs of Skaalen and HospiceCare Inc.
