Stoughton- Dorothy M. Offerdahl, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 22, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on July 29, 1926 to Rosa and Henry Quiner in Linden, NJ. Dorothy and her sister Lucille lost both parents as young children. After living for several years in an orphanage in Sparta Dorothy and her sister were placed with loving Foster parents, Rudolph and Frances Anderson of Cambridge. Dorothy graduated from Cambridge High School. In 1945 she married Robert P. Offerdahl of Stoughton where they raised five children. Dorothy retired after owning and operating the Powder Puff Beauty Salon in Stoughton. She was devoted to her family and was known for her commitment to friends. An avid Packer and NASCAR fan, Dorothy enjoyed watching games and races with members of her family. She was fond of bird watching and enjoyed her garden and collection of indoor plants. She adopted many pets throughout her life and provided all of them with a happy home. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Stoughton. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Sheryl (Jim) Olson and Lori (Bruce) Kean; three sons, Roger (Jill), Robin (Nubia) and Robert; grandchildren, Kent (Diane) Kisow, Andrea and Erica Offerdahl, Max and Sophie Kean and Emily, Taylor and Ian Offerdahl; great grandchildren, Ryan, Josh, Sam and Ben Kisow; and long time friend, Marian Peterson. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her beloved foster parents, Rudolph and Frances; sister, Lucille (Willard) Quam; grandson, Joseph Kean; and great granddaughter, Abbi Kisow. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery South. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon in the church fellowship hall, following the burial. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church on Wednesday. The family extends special thanks to Agrace HospiceCare and to the Stoughton Senior Center staff for the care and support they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Agrace HospiceCare.
