Dorothy L. Peterson

Sun Prairie -- Dorothy Leona Peterson, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on September 24, 1917, the daughter of George and Esther (Gehrke) Yohn. Dorothy was united in marriage to Roy Peterson on June 17, 1942 in Columbus. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Carol Hamele of Portage and Sharon (Roger) Erb of Cambridge; a son Roger (Sharon) Peterson of Sun Prairie; six grandchildren, Mark and Travis Hamele, Kelly Peterson, Stacy Kingston, Shannon Erb and Tammy Cooper; eleven great grandchildren; brother, George (Dorothy) Yohn; sister, Bernice Sherman; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy, brothers Arnold and Charles Yohn and a sister, Beatrice Weideman.

Funeral services will be held at PEACE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 232 Windsor Street, Sun Prairie, on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Luke Werre officiating. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie on Friday, February 26, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at church on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff and her friends at Harmony Living Center, HospiceCare and Peace Lutheran Church for the long time support and special care that she received.
