Dorothy Schumann

Stoughton- Dorothy Elaine Schumann, age 94, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her husband Fred and son Denny on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Milestone Assisted Living in Stoughton.  Joining the welcome home committee were Dorothy’s parents, Albert and Ella Thompson; in-laws, Fred and Geda Schumann; brothers, Irving (Maxine) Thompson and Arnold (Mary) Thompson; sisters, Virginia (Harold) Harrison, Lorraine (Carl) Dyreson, and Wilma (Roger) Stoskopf; grandsons, Nick and Craig Sornson; and many friends and relatives.  Dorothy leaves behind her daughter, Diane (Bruce) Knoble; son, David (Becky) Schumann; granddaughter Tami Sornson (Chris Nolley) and their sons, Zaid, Hamzah, Yusef, Khalid and Ismail Nolley; granddaughter, Lesly (Dennis) Anderson and their daughters, Adeline and Lola, and son Dennis; grandson, Jack (Braeshley) Schumann and their children Bentley and Gracie Schumann; granddaughter, Teena Nelson; and granddaughter, Tammy Stevens.

Dorothy was a member of McFarland Lutheran Church.  Dorothy and her husband, Fred, lived in Rural Stoughton.  They built their own home in 1950.  Dorothy graduated from Madison East High School.  She went on to have clerical jobs at General Casualty Insurance Company in Madison, and the Stoughton Courier HUB.  Wife, mom, and homemaker were her favorite attributes.  Dorothy enjoyed gardening, making grape jelly from her own concord grapes on the vine, dancing, cooking, baking, word search puzzles, and making ice cream cones for anyone who visited her at home.  She enjoyed watching the birds at the bird feeders, and watching cars on the highway.
