Dorothy C. Swingen

Stoughton- Dorothy C. Swingen, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, May 03, 2011 at Nazareth House. She was born in Madison on April 5, 1918, the daughter of Louis and Nora (Onsrud) Slinde. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Stoughton. She worked as a nurses aide for Stoughton Hospital for many years and was a member of First Lutheran Church. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering at the Stoughton Senior Center, baking and gaming. She is survived by her children, David (Kelly) of Sturgeon Bay, Greg (Karen) of Ft. Atkinson, Gail McIntosh of Middleton and Anita Cook of Madison; five grandchildren, Kelly, Zach, Brian, Stevie and Nikki; sister, Arlene Mortinson of Glendale, CA; and many relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Clarence Swingen; grandsons, Daniel Baine and Joshua Swingen; and siblings, Helen Turner, Mildred Fosdahl, and Noel, Stanley and Groucho Slinde. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton. Private family burial will take place.
