Madison, Horicon, Monroe, WI - Doryan (Webster) Kerr-Goestch passed away peacefully March 25, 2020 at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge.
Doryan was born in a tiny Texas town to parents Paul and Sarah Webster. Paul was a cowboy and ranch hand in Texas, and later worked construction. Sarah was a homemaker, raising four children. The Websters eventually moved to Monroe where they had extended family. Doryan graduated from Monroe High School in 1950.
Doryan married and raised four children while working part time. She loved kids and was known to pack up as many as would fit in the family station wagon and take them to the county park where hours were spent hiking and exploring nature. She was famous for creating special memories and turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. She loved all the holidays, especially Halloween, where her creative spirit really shined - painting spooky scenes on all the windows of the house, dressing up to hand out candy, and hosting costume parties. Holiday or not, Doryan welcomed family, friends and friends of friends to gatherings. She loved to share good food and good times with people and to ensure everyone felt a part of something bigger than themselves.
Doryan also loved animals and the family provided a home to dozens of stray dogs and cats over the years. She couldn’t say no, even to the pregnant dog who soon had a dozen pups to take care of as well. She found good homes for all of them.
After the sudden death of her husband, Dan, she moved to Madison and earned a degree in interior design from Madison College. She worked at several furniture, flooring and design companies in Dane County. Doryan continued to work until age 78 when health issues prevented her from doing so.
Doryan is survived by her four children John, Mike, Jayme (Frank), and Jeana (Kula), granddaughter Sarah, brother Tom (Patty), nieces and nephews, and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers George and Leo.
Doryan had many friends over the years. The family in particular appreciates Bernie, Deb, Jan and Norma for their many years of camaraderie and caring. Doryan will be remembered for her acceptance of others, her laugh, her caring nature and bright spirit.
The family would like to extend deepest appreciation to all the wonderful staff at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge for their extraordinary compassion and expert care over the years.
A family memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Oakwood Foundation in memory of Doryan Kerr-Goetsch - Oakwood Village | It takes a Village... https://www.oakwoodvillage.net/support
