Douglass Patrick Kuiper

Douglass Patrick Kuiper, 44, of Waunakee died unexpectedly on August 9, 2021 from cardiac arrest. His loss has saddened the entire family along with his many friends.  Patrick was a spiritual man and there is comfort in knowing that we will meet him again in our heavenly kingdom.

Patrick was born on January 4, 1977 to Douglas and Patricia Kuiper in Racine, WI. Patrick graduated from Calvary Baptist Christian School in Sun Prairie and studied architecture and engineering at MATC.  He was passionate about the structural steel business and loved nature. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, deer hunting, trapping and fishing.   He was also an avid weather buff.

He worked as owner / VP of Operations at Suncor, Inc. for 24 years.

Those who knew him well recognized that he loved his family more than anything.  He had a great sense of humor and was passionate about everything he did. He was thoughtful and generous.  He was always there to help those who needed it.  He was always a source of positivity. He loved music and would often strum his guitar to his favorite John Denver songs.  His family remembers the Sunday afternoon road trips while listening to his favorite 60’s, 70’s and 80’s music.  He loved the song; “Letter to Elise” by his favorite band, the Cure and was inspired to name his daughter Elise.  His son, Ethan, enjoyed his time with his dad learning the steel business. Patrick’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.

He is survived by his wife Sharon and his children Elise and Ethan; parents, Douglas and Patricia Kuiper; brother, Scott (Stacey) Kuiper; nieces, Gracie, Hannah, Molly; nephew, Noah; aunts and uncles, Rell and Sandy Barrett, Dan and Terri Estep, Jim and Susan Tauschek, Dan and Judith Kuiper, Dave and Marianne Kuiper, and Jason Hathaway; and many cousins; parents-in-law, James and Susan Melton; sister-in-law, Abigail (Stephen) Munday; and nephews, Joel and Matthew.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Dowie and Gloria Kuiper, Walter & Mary Mazek; aunt, Karen Hathaway, cousins, Jeramiah Kuiper, Rell Barrett Jr., Lee Hathaway, Jeffrey Jon Evenson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee, WI. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. A visitation will be on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.  A luncheon will follow.

A memorial will be designated by the family at a later date.
