Madison -- Dr. Carston S. McKay, age 80, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Oak Park Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, WI. Â She was born on December 22, 1928, in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, the daughter of Fred and Wanda (Schultz) Simon. She received her Bachelors Degree in Marine Biology at Western Washington State College, her MSW and PhD (psychology/child development) at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She taught for 25 years at MATC in Madison. Â Carston was a kind, generous, loving person who encouraged independence and self- reliance. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, garden, cook, and travel. She especially enjoyed Monet's Gardens in France and her trip to Italy. Â She also loved her monthly lunches with the girls'. Â She is survived by sons Dr. Mark Haubrich, Kurt (Tina) Haubrich, daughter Robin (Brent) Scott; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly (John) Cole, Brandon Cole, Charmaigne (partner Terri) Cole, Kyle Haubrich; great grandsons, Jordan and Bailey; brother Bill (Carol) Simo; several nieces and nephews. Â She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Simon, and a sister, Shirley Arveson. Â A Celebration of Her Life will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Â Mom, grandma, great grandma we miss you, and all we can say is, ""Very good then"".
