My wonderful, loving, funny, really smart and talented husband, Dr. John Martner, passed away peacefully after a brave 6 year battle with multiple myeloma. He was my love and best friend. He was much loved by his family and 6 grandchildren. John was born in Oklahoma and lived in a few places before he settled in Madison, Wisconsin.
Although John was a highly accomplished scientist, having a Ph.D in Chemistry and Molecular Biology, he was multifaceted. His expertise not only included computer science and development, he was also a teacher, master craftsman in wood fabrication, and had a knack for creating unusual and tasty culinary dishes. In his retirement, John collaborated with me and together we produced a series of sculptures called “Pear in a Chair”. John was thrilled when one of his collaborative sculptures was purchased by the Bergstrom Mahler Museum of Glass in 2019.
While I will always remember the fun times and travels we had with our family and friends, just knowing him has made me a better person. John was and will be remembered as one of the finest gentleman I have ever known. His adventure will continue in our hearts and memories.
