Duane R. Blumer, age 48, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 9, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, following a pulmonary embolism.  Duane was born on May 30, 1960 the oldest son of Ralph and Elizabeth ""Betty"" (Maly) Blumer in Plattville.  He was a graduate of West DePere High School, and UW-LaCrosse.   Duane was employed as a Loan Officer for GMAC for over 20 years, working in many cities, currently in Detroit.  He served his country in the US Marines.  Duane was a very generous person, who enjoyed spending time with his family playing cards, and video games with nieces and nephews.  His other interests included the theatre and musicals.  Duane also enjoyed genealogy, and did full genealogies for both the Blumer and Maly families.  Duane is survived by his mother; Elizabeth  ""Betty"" Blumer, sister; Nancy (Tim) Heindl, of Verona, brothers; Kevin Blumer, Madison, Roger (Susan) Blumer, Walnut Creek, CA, Daryl Blumer, Madison, and nieces and nephews; Derek, Katy, Dan, Amber, Jamie, Madison, Alex, and Megan.  He was preceded in death by his Father; Ralph E. Blumer, and grandparents; John and Catherine Maly, and David and Ida Blumer.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at ST MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, WI, with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of service.
