Duane Osborn

April 16, 1932 — June 19, 2018

Fitchburg - Duane E. Osborn, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Oak Park Place, with the assistance of Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care. Duane was born on April 16, 1932 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Eugene and Dorothea (Cnare) Osborn.

He made a living doing construction in and around the Madison area working for JP Cullen. After retiring at an early age, he and his brother Eugene owned and operated rental property in downtown Madison. But that wasn't enough to keep him busy. He became the neighborhood handyman, helping friends and family do projects and other small jobs. He even taught one neighbor how to use a hammer. And his repayment was usually dinner since he didn't want money. His then neighbor, who later became his girlfriend, made a quilt for him. Every patch represented a job that he had done for her.

Duane loved the outdoors. He spent many weekends camping with his children when they were young. He loved to hunt and as he got older, enjoyed the wildlife in his backyard. His other passion was his motorcycle. Duane joined the GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Association) in the late eighties and enjoyed touring locally and throughout the US. And when he quit riding, he enjoyed going to the dog park.

Survivors include his long-time girlfriend, Elizabeth Breed, his two children, Darcy (David Young) Osborn and Dale (Danielle) Osborn of Fitchburg and his beloved Husky, Sheera, his sister-in-law Jannette Osborn of McFarland along with several nephews, nieces and friends.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eugene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Avenue, Madison. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery with a luncheon to follow. For Duane's sake, casual attire preferred.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agrace Foundation, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
