Edel-Lore I. Simonson

Edel-Lore I. Simonson, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at HospiceCare in Fitchburg.   She was born Nov. 11, 1927 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Paul W. and Emmy (Sassowsky) Schultz, where she lived until 1944 when her family moved to Madison.    Edel-Lore was a graduate of West High School and Harper Method Beauty School.   She was united in marriage to Archie Simonson on April 16, 1949 in Dubuque, IA.   Edel-Lore was employed as a Beauty Operator, and also by M&I Bank, where she handled customer accounts.   In later years she enjoyed doing nails, and also visiting with residents of Oakwood.   Edel-Lore was a true volunteer, and volunteered countless hours over the years.   She was instrumental with the Madison Shrine Club Brat Stand for over 25 years.   Edel-Lore was a member of the Dane County Lawyer's Wives Auxiliary, Madison Elks #410 Auxiliary,  Daughters of the Nile, UW Bucky's Ambassadors,   St. Mary's   Hospital Auxiliary,   and a devoted   member of Luther Memorial Church and the Rachel Group at Luther Memorial.   She also enjoyed word puzzles, crocheting, knitting, reading, and especially spending time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.   Edel-Lore is survived by her husband of 62 years, Archie, children; Sonja Markiewicz, Carla (Thomas) Neumann, Lisa (Will Jr.) Smith, Eric Simonson, grandchildren; Carrie (Tom) Arndorfer, Benjamin (Heather) Markiewicz,  Tim (friend Morgan Merrill) Markiewicz, Nathaniel (fiancee Rebecca Lambert) Neumann, Amanda Neumann, Michael Simonson, great-grandchildren; Trey Arndorfer, Allen Arndorfer, Marcus Markiewicz, Mason Markiewicz, Vivian Simonson, former son-in-law Allen Markiewicz, and brother Otfried (Enyde) Schultz.   A visitation will be held from 4 until 7 pm on Friday, March 18, 2011 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison.    A Memorial Service will   at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at LUTHER MEMORIAL CHURCH, 1021 University Ave. Madison, WI   53715.
