Edith M. Christensen

Stoughton - Edith Christensen, 89, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023. Edie was born on January 22, 1934 to Herman and Elizabeth Kopke. She and her twin brother Elmer were #’s 9 & 10 to the family.

Edie was milking cows at her brother Merle’s farm and that is where she met Lennie. They married in 1955 on her 21st birthday.

They settled in Stoughton on a small farm and started raising tobacco. Lennie and Edie both prided themselves with their tobacco crops. Always a little competition with Merle on the pounds when delivered to the warehouse. Edie went to work off the farm after her kids were in school. She worked several part time jobs before starting full time at Ortega (B&G Foods), working there until her retirement in 2004.

Edie was a worker, possibly the life of the party at times. The family spent many summers camping in Tomahawk and snowmobiling there too.

Edie is survived by her children, Rick (Barb), Rollie, Randy “Hank” (Julie) and Kim (Bruce) Sime; grandchildren, Dan (Jenny) Christensen, Eric Christensen, Bryce (Amber) Sime, Nick (Taylor) Braukhoff, Kelly (Chris) Pollack, Karl (Courtney) Sime, Wendy (Craig) Furseth, Ronnie (Samantha) Sime, Hayley (Caleb) Hasty and Davis Christensen; 16 great grandchildren, Sister in law Marge Christensen and brother in law Bill Maher and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lennis, grandson Chris, brothers Merle, Marvin, Chester, Elmer, Harold, Kenny, sisters Ethel, Eve, Doris, Lucille and Eileen, and many brother and sister in-laws.

Celebration of Life will be held 10-1 on Saturday December 23, 2023, at the VFW Post #328, 200 Veterans Rd, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers and memorials, just a happy memory of Edie would be wonderful.

The family extends a special thank you to Agrace Hospice staff, Skaalen Nursing staff and Skaalen Heights staff for the wonderful care for our mom.

A private burial at Lutheran South Cemetery will be at a later date.
