Stoughton/Cottage Grove- Edith Jane Goecks, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2008. She was born in Madison on February 17, 1921, the second of 12 children to Charles and Lona (Crawford) Horton. Jane attended school in Madison. She met her future husband, Victor Goecks, while they were both working for Oscar Meyer. On November 30, 1940 they were married in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they farmed for 60 years in the Stoughton/Cottage Grove area. While farming Jane worked for the State of WI Dept. of Agriculture until her retirement. She was very active in the community including 4H, FFA and any activity that her children were involved in. Jane is survived by her four sons, Jerry (Pat) Goecks and Charles (Joyce) Goecks, both of Pittsville, Dean Goecks of Edgerton and Richard (Mary) Goecks of Green Bay; special ex daughter-in-law, Debbie (Claire) Friedli of Stoughton; six grandchildren, Dan (Sherry), Vickie, Connie Sue (Robert), Shawn (Pamala), Jay and Brad; six great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two adopted grandchildren, Michelle (James) and Tammy; two sisters, Dorothy Bronson and Beverly Pharo; brother, Bob (Mary) Horton; three brothers-in-law, Troy Dickert, Dale Storch and Marvin Goecks; sister-in-law, Fern Dicks; numerous relatives; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor in June 2005; daughter, Le Rae Ann; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beatrice Carol, Juanita (Don) Beckwith, Bernadine (Bob) Slinde, Frances Dickert, Ruth (Tom) Lawler, Pat Storch, Fern (Bob) Andrea and Howard Pharo; and brothers and sister-in-law, Frank (Marian) and Donald Goecks. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 12, 2008 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in McFarland. Burial will follow in Blooming Grove Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service Friday. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the funeral home. A special thank you to Sharon Bronson for her tender loving care of Jane, especially for her nursing skills that came in handy, and to the staff of Nazareth House, HospiceCare Inc., St. Mary's Health Care Center and Meister Special Transport.
