Edmund M. Ross, age 96, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Madison VA Hospital.
Ed was born on September 29, 1925 in Wausau, to Stanley and Anna Rozmenoski. He grew up in the Wausau area, graduating high school in 1944.
Ed joined the Army/Air Force during WWII and was a member of the 100th Bombardment Group, serving in 35 missions in a B-17 across Europe. He continued to honorably serve in the Air Force Reserve.
Ed was also an accomplished athlete. He was a member of the Wausau area ski jumping team and played semi-professional football for the Wausau Muskies.
Ed joined the State Patrol in 1956 and retired in 1981, making life long friendships with his troopers. He then joined the federal government as a court security officer.
Ed married Joyce Callahan on July 8, 1950. They were married for 68 years and blessed with eight children.
Ed had numerous hobbies and talents. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood working, hunting, and visiting with family and friends.
Ed is survived by six children, Lynnette Wolfe, Kathleen Ross, Mark Ross, Patty (Bob) Muller, Laurie Ross (Clint Luther) and Terence (Karen) Ross; and two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Ross and Diane Ross. He is also survived by 15 special grandchildren; 13 wonderful great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; sons, Jeffrey and Edward; and grandson, Timothy Wolfe.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Stoughton, with Fr. Randy Budnar officiating. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, with full Military Honors. Lunch will be provided in Healy Hall following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Stoughton American Legion Post 59.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Madison VA Hospital and Clinics for all the loving care they provided to Ed over the years.
