Edna L. Thomas

Madison-Edna L. Thomas, age 98, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 23, 2010.  She was born on August 5, 1912 the daughter of August & Anna (Beckman) Fietz.  She was first united in marriage to Victor Medcraft who passed away in 1939 she then married Leslie Thomas on January 10, 1943 in Madison and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage until his death in 1997.  Mrs. Thomas was a longtime resident of Madison having lived in the same place for over 75 years.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Madison.  Mrs. Thomas was an avid sports fan especially Badger & Packer football. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and crewel embroidering.  She was very much a lady and took great pride in her appearance.  Mrs. Thomas will be missed by her beloved family which includes her sons,  Charles (Sarah) Medcraft, Myrtle Beach, SC and Jerald (Linda) Thomas, Davenport, IA;  her daughter, Marilyn Bock, Brooklyn Park, MN; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Delphine Medcraft, Hastings, MN; her sister, Mae Opel, Columbus; her brothers, Clarence (Fola) Fietz, Columbus, Orlin (Grace) Fietz, Waupun and A. Russell (Arlene) Fietz, Fall River; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Robert, brothers, Erwin, Clifford and Willard, sister, Marian Pollard, daughter-in-law, Joanne Medcraft and son-in-law, Joe Bock.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1123 Vilas Ave, Madison with Rev. Amanda Stein officiating.  A time of gathering will be held on Saturday at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. A reception will follow the service. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all that knew her. Memorials to Trinity Methodist Church would be appreciated.
