Edward F. Acker, age 82, of waunakee, died on Sat., May 14, 2011 at Fort Atkinson Hospital in Fort Atkinson,WI following a brief illness. He was born on Oct. 2, 1928 to Antoine and Odelia Acker. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict where he received the Purple Heart. He married Annabelle Meier Viney and they resided in Waunakee. Ed was employed at the University of Wisconsin and retired in 1991.
Survivors include his wife Annabelle; his children Kristine Viney and Kevin Viney; three grandchildren, Matthew Thornton, Remington and Dane Viney; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Boardman and Kassundra Thornton; one great-great-granddaughter Cianna Boardman; his sisters Beatrice Hellenbrand, Josephine (Leo) Yaeger, Margaret Pierce, and Clara (Tom) Church; sister-in-law Valaria Acker; brother-in-law Theron Miller; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Clarence Acker; and a sister Verena Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee. Reverend Lance Schneider will preside. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery in Ashton.
