Edward A. Boyd

McFarland- Edward A. Boyd, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2009.  He was born on May 21, 1929 a son of the late Edward and Gladys (Vinje) Boyd.  Ed was in the Marines from 1946 to 1953.  He was united in marriage to Harriet Birdsall of North Carolina, they eloped and were wed in South Carolina.  Ed worked for the State of Wisconsin for 37 years.  He was with the McFarland Fire Department for 16 years.  Ed loved to go to the Oshkosh air show every year and enjoyed his arrow head shows.  Ed was a member of the Badger State Archeological Society.  He enjoyed his back yard area and his flower gardens.  Ed is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriet; three sons, Charlie (Cindy) Boyd of Oregon and Steven (Taka) and Bob Boyd, both of McFarland; eight brothers; two sisters; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Neil Boyd.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in McFarland.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately following the burial at the McFarland American Legion.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.  A special thank you to HospiceCare Inc. for their help.
