WAUNAKEE/MADISON-Edward F. Colbert, age 95, died on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. He was born in Madison on March 11, 1923, to Roy and Vera (Fisher) Colbert. He was married to Delores Ulteig and they had one son, Mark. He served as a pilot during World War II in the Navy. Ed was also a former Eagle Scout and went on to get his teaching degree in Platteville and later his Masters at UW Madison. He taught in Waukesha, Pewaukee, and finally, in the Madison Public Schools as an Industrial Ed coordinator.
His love of flying continued after his service and he owned his own plane and gave a number of rides to area children. He also enjoyed his cabin that he designed and built by St Germain Lake up North.
Survivors include 2 grandchildren, Eddie and Jenny; a sister, Vera; nieces and nephews; and his care provider, Duane Esse. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; his son, Mark and two brothers, Bob and Roy.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church. 701 S. Century Ave., Waunakee. Rev Karen Locken will preside. A reception will follow in the church dining hall.
