Edward Julius Pertzborn died on August 20, 2020. Ed was born December 21, 1943 to Roman and Margaret Pertzborn in Waunakee, Wisconsin, where he graduated high school before serving in the Army National Guard for 4 years. It was during this time that he met and married the love of his life, Bonnie, in 1967.
He went to work at Oscar Mayer’s as a jeep mechanic where he worked until he retired. Custodial work at DeForest schools kept him busy and out of trouble after retirement.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Margaret; his two brothers, Larry and Roman; his son, Edward; and his mother-in-law, Ruth.
Those he left behind include his loving wife Bonnie, with whom he spent 53 years. His children Tracey, Rebecca, William (Kim), and Thomas (Wendy) along with 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings: Mary Ziegler, Agnes (Lorny) Hellenbrand, Delores Ziegler, Margie Cummings, Michael (Shirley), Daniel (Deb), William (Sandy), and Kenneth (Colleen).
Ed loved to travel to Branson, Missouri and his biggest wish was to be able to see the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. He loved his country music, especially Johnny Cash, and loved to sing along to the “Cocaine Blues” as he was mowing the lawn on his riding lawn mower.
He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his many friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at St John’s Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Monsignor James Gunn will officiate.
His family would like to thank: Dr. Ranum, the staff at St. Mary’s, the DeForest E.M.S., and Winn-Cress Funeral Home. We are so appreciative of what you all did for him.
