Edwin Selmer Gretebeck, age 79 of Stoughton, Passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Stoughton Hospital.  He was born in Stoughton on November 17, 1930, a son of Selmer and Eleanor (Bratland) Gretebeck.  On July 11, 1953, he was united in marriage to Angeline Hull in Stoughton.  Edwin worked as a milk hauler for 52 years.  He also farmed, starting in 1959, and continuing for the rest of his life.  Edwin is remembered as a strong, selfless, mild mannered, giving man with a wonderful sense of humor.  He was always willing to help others.  Though he faced many adversities in life, including a battle with cancer that began in 1976, he enjoyed life to the fullest, made the best out of every situation, and never complained.  Edwin especially enjoyed autumn when he could see the fruits of his labor.  His pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.  Edwin was an avid Race Car fan.  He was a member of Stoughton FFA Alumni and was instrumental in the creation of the very popular FFA Cream Puff Stand.  He is survived by 2 sons, Dale (Lisa) and Mark (Laurel) Gretebeck; a daughter, Jackie (Scott) Zahn; 7 grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, Josh, Hannah, Max, Lena, and Emily; a sister, Darlene Dorn; 2 brothers, Sanford (Lois) and Leonard (Hillechien) Gretebeck; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Angeline in 2004.  Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at noon at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Hwy B. Stoughton, with the Rev. Scott Geister-Jones officiating.  The family will greet friends at church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service.  Following services, a luncheon will be held at church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials for cancer research may be made in care of the family.
