STOUGHTON--Eileen L. (McCarthy) Schroeder, age 90, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Nazareth Health and Rehab Center in Stoughton. Eileen was born in the Town of Porter on September 6, 1923 to the late Charles and Mary (Farberg) McCarthy. She graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of '41. Eileen was a hard worker and loving caregiver, always helping and taking care of people. She began at Stoughton Hospital for 15 years, then owned and operated Sunny Knoll Nursing Home for 25 years, following that she worked for her brothers', McCarthy Nursing Home, for 10 years. Over all, she proudly served and lovingly cared for people for 50 years. On May 1, 1965, she was united in marriage to Harline D. Schroeder at St. Ann's Chapel, Stoughton.
Eileen liked to go for rides and have get-togethers with family friends. She loved animals, sports, and was on a bowling team. Eileen had a sweet tooth, especially for candy; she loved her chocolate.
She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Janet (Bryan) Sorenson of Brooklyn and Maxine (Ken) Strasburg of Fort Atkinson; three grandchildren, Pamela, Dawn and Susie; sister, Clara Vogel of Jefferson; sister-in-law, Susan McCarthy of Oconomowoc; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harline; 4 sisters, Alice, Margaret, Mildred and Kathryn; and 3 brothers, Bob, Charles, and Jerry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton. Family will greet friends after 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial and lunch will follow.
