Eileen Wayne

Deerfield- Eileen A. Wayne, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2015 at University Hospital in Madison. She was born on the family farm in Crawford County on March 10, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Farrell. Eileen graduated from Wauzeka High School. On February 10, 1945 she married Earl Wayne. Together they farmed for many years. Eileen worked in Food Service for the Deerfield Schools for 27 years, and took great pride in the students calling her "grandma." In her retirement she continued her love of cooking, especially for her children and grandchildren. Eileen was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, Darlene Devine, Barb (Howard) Simonson, Ed (Marsha) and John (Gigi); 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, and one on the way; four great great grandchildren; three siblings, Joseph Farrell, Betty (Jim) Mindhum, and Margaret (Ronald) Ritchie; numerous extended relatives; and many friends. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Earl; son, Barry; son-in-law, Howard Devine; and eight siblings, Letha (Donald) Stafford, Lillian (George) Mezera, Raymond (Bertha) Farrell, Florence (Kenneth) Goplin, Leona (Leo) LaMere, Ruby Farrell, Thomas Farrell, and Rosemary (Forrest) Ward. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 434 N. Main Street, Cottage Grove, with Fr. Michael Tarigopula officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, following the burial, in the church fellowship hall. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home in Deerfield, and from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass on Wednesday at church.
