Stoughton- Elaine B. Halverson, age 83, passed away at Stoughton Hospital on Monday, August 1, 2011. She was born in Stoughton on January 30, 1928, a daughter of Alvin and Ethel (Oren) Nelson. She graduated from Stoughton High School in 1946. On November 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to William 'Bud' Halverson. Elaine worked as a secretary in the law office of Carl Pieper for 38 years. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, and enjoyed traveling with Bud all over the United States as a couple and along with the Model A Club and the Southern Wisconsin Old Time Fiddlers. Elaine enjoyed euchre and playing poker with the girls. She was full of love and is remembered as a wonderful wife and a loving mother. Elaine is survived by her husband Bud; son, David Halverson; daughter, Cindy (Phillip) Grunewald; grandson, Bill (Melissa Morgan) Elsing; 2 great-grand daughters, Kyli and Cheyenne; and a sister, Claris Roum. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Hwy B, Stoughton, with the Rev. Scott Geister-Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery in Stoughton. The family will greet friends at church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Special thanks to the staff at Skaalen Home. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, or to the National Parkinson Foundation.
