Elaine H. Wegner

Madison-Elaine H. Wegner passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Hospice Care in Fitchburg. She was born the daughter of Otto and Flora Hiller on June 13, 1920 in Vesper, WI. She studied journalism at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She married UW Athletic Coach and Professor Fred A. Wegner on June 20, 1941 at Luther Memorial church in Madison, where they remained life long members. Elaine resided in her Westmorland neighborhood home for 58 years, enjoying her hobbies and wonderful neighbors, especially her best friend Joan Murphy. Elaine is survived by her daughter Barbara (Robert) Koons, of Stafford VA; granddaughters, Stephanie (Tim) Peloquin of Denver Co., Virginia Koons of Stafford, VA, and Lisa Koons of McClean, VA; and three nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harold Hiller, and her husband of 65 years. Elaine's wishes were to have a private family service in the summer.
