Eleanore Judith Nygaard, age 95, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Stoughton Hospital. Â She was born on September 22, 1914 to the late John R. and Anna (Hanson) Myrold, baptized and confirmed by Rev. H.M. Hegge at First Lutheran Church, and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1932. Â She married Archie S. Nygaard on October 20, 1932 in Rockford, IL. Â She was a faithful member of Covenant Lutheran Church, Lydia Circle, Women of the Church, Stoughton Hospital Auxiliary, a life member of Sons of Norway, and a member of the Weekenders and Senior Citizen Volunteers. Â Eleanore worked at Stoughton Garment Factory (Rainfair) and Oscar Mayer, but her greatest love was being owner and administrator of Nygaard Nursing Home for 40 years. Â She loved to travel, visiting many countries overseas including 7 times to her parent's homeland in Norway. Â She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. Â She loved antiques, music, dancing, going out with friends and relatives, visiting shut-ins and spending time at her cottage. Â She is survived by her sister, Solveig Sorenson, and many nieces and nephews. Â She was preceded in death by her husband Archie, her son, Archie Jr., and brothers, Harold and John. Â Eleanor never had a dull moment. Â She always kept busy and enjoyed life and her church. Â Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at noon at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1529 N. Van Buren St. Stoughton, with the Rev. George Carlson officiating. Â The family will greet friends at church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Â A luncheon will be held at church immediately following the service. Â Private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
