Elena Lejter Z”L was born in Palmira, in the Andes, in Venezuela on December 21, 1942. Together with her family, she moved to Caracas when she was a teenager and set out to study to become a teacher. Finding herself in need to work to help support her family, she started working in administrative jobs at a hospital in Caracas, where she met Moises Lejter. They got married and had three children, who mourn her today as their beloved mother and pillar of the family.
Elena was a lively, joyful, strong, and determined woman who impacted everyone around her for the better. She loved animals and was always on the lookout for them. She was skilled at embroidery, cooking delicious Venezuelan meals, and baking all kinds of desserts. She loved to travel and get to know other places and cultures. She was full of life and had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor. She was a wonderful host and brought everyone together on countless occasions at her home.
“Tita,” as her grandchildren called her, was always in touch with everyone in the family. We are dispersed around the world, but everyone could always count on a message or a call from her, often when they most needed it.
Our dearest Tita passed away peacefully after a brave struggle with cancer on December 22, 2024. She had just turned 82 years old.
Her children and grandchildren and her extended family will miss her and treasure her memory forever.
Please share your memories of Tita here on her tribute wall.
