MADISON- Eli Schreurs, 30, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was born in Littleton, CO on November 28, 1989 to David Schreurs and Colleen Cassidy.
Eli was a passionate person who lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo. He put his heart and soul into everything he did. Eli was a very talented young man who was well-versed in the arts. He went to school to become a Luthier and he made his own guitar. A fan of the game, Warhammer, Eli spent a lot of time painting figurines to add to his collection.
Eli loved traveling and exploring the outdoors, but the Western United States was his favorite. He even spent a summer working at Yellowstone National Park. Eli loved the thrill of adventure, often getting into mischief and shenanigans during his travels.
An animal lover, Eli’s most loyal companion was his dog, Ghost. Ghost was there for Eli through thick and thin and Eli took him everywhere with him, sometimes dressing him in hats or outfits. Ghost was Eli’s hiking and travel companion, and skateboard buddy.
Something Eli held dear to his heart was time spent with his four nieces and nephews; Jak, Nora, Lydia, and Neveah. He really loved the uncle role, and fell into it perfectly by roughhousing and playing video games with the children. Eli loved sharing his interests with them and the children loved sharing their interests with him. He treasured all the time that they spent together.
Eli was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, grandson, and friend. He will be missed by all the people he had touched in his life.
Eli is survived by his mother, Colleen (Kevin Teschendorf) Cassidy; father, David Schreurs; sisters, Erin (Jonathan) Bosse, and Anna Schreurs; half-siblings, Melissa Schreurs, and Dave Schreurs, Jr.; grandparents, Gerald and Helen Cassidy, and Regina Schreurs; and his dog, Ghost. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, John Schreurs; and grandmother, Mary Cassidy.
A celebration of Eli’s life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at CRESS FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, from 1pm-3pm. A time of sharing will be held at 3pm. To honor Eli’s love of music, please wear your favorite band shirt to the celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Eli’s honor to the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, 53718.
