Elinor Stotsky

MADISON- Elinor L. Stotsky, age 95, of Madison passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the hospice unit at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on April 30, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Morris and Rose Elperin. She married Jerome L. Stotsky on August 26, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Elinor grew up in Cleveland and went to work at Bailey Department Store at the age of 15 where she met her future husband. She became a devoted mother of three children. In addition to her dedication to her family and lifelong friendships, she also had a passion for art and creative works including ceramics, fiber art, and porcelain doll-making. She was also an avid gardener and collector of many things including coins, stamps and postcards. She worked diligently in business management for several companies before retiring with her husband and relocating in 1985 to Madison in order to be closer to her children.

Elinor is survived by her husband, Jerome; her children, David Stotsky, Susan (Maurice) Thaler, Eileen (Steven) Berkley; her grandchildren, Sean Stotsky, Tanya Stotsky, Leah Uhlenhake, and Kelsey Uhlenhake; her step-grandchildren, Kiera Durgan, Brion Berkley, and Sarah Sheehan; her great-grandchildren; Jerome Stotsky and Oliver Bullwinkle; and several step-great-grandchildren; and also her nieces, Phyllis and Nancy.

Elinor was preceded in death by her brother, William Elperin.

A funeral service will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 2pm. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
