May 5, 1931 — January 2, 2011

Elizabeth Jean Brantmeyer, age 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.   Elizabeth was born in Madison on May 5, 1931, a daughter of E. (Haight) Osmundsen.   The oldest of seven, she grew up on a farm in rural Fitchburg.   In later years she said that she still could harness a horse.   On September 22, 1951, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Paul James Brantmeyer.   She was a strong, caring, giving and understanding person, who considered her greatest gift on life to be her family.   She enjoyed being at home, in her back yard, and working together with her family.   She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, ushered at the Opera House, and demonstrated her great love for animals by regularly bringing in cardboard rolls for animals at the Humane Society.   Elizabeth is survived by six children, Jean (Raymond) Cull, Andrew (Paula) Brantmeyer, Kaye Brantmeyer, Howard (Viki) Brantmeyer, Ruth (Sylvester) Blibo, and William (Rose) Brantmeyer; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mona, Roberta, Karen, Sharon and Gail; and many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; a great granddaughter, Malanyna Grace Selenske; a brother, Monty Glenn Osmundsen; and numerous pets.   Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at noon at Stoughton United Methodist Church, 535 N. Lincoln, with the Rev. Lamarr V. Gibson officiating.   Burial will follow at Rockdale Lutheran Cemetery.   The family will greet friends at church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
