Elizabeth Dvorak

July 24, 1942 — December 11, 2017

Surrounded by her loving family Elizabeth Ann Dvorak died on December 11, 2017 at St Marys Hospital as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Beth was born in Oak Park Illinois to elderly parents Elmer James and Winnefred Anne (Andrews) Conklin on July24, 1942. She grew up in Riverside Illinois and graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in 1960. She then attended Northwestern University in addition to training at Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago receiving both B.S. and RN degrees.

She was an accomplished musician studying both the piano and cello, the latter of which lead to meeting her spouse, Paul, in a community orchestra in 1960. They were wed in 1964 while still both in training.

Beth and Paul started their life together in Chicago in a small apartment near Wrigley Field. After their graduations they moved first to Minneapolis for Paul's pediatric training and then to Warrenton, Virginia where Paul served in the Army. They purchased their first and only home when they settled in Madison in 1972, a home that has always been filled with Beth's warmth and love.

Though Beth was a surgical nurse, a fine accompanist, a cellist, a champion for the environment, a gifted photographer, a knitter par excellence, and a non-judgmental friend to all, she was first a wife, a mother and a grandmother. It was in these roles that she was the happiest and at her best. She loved being a Mom and her greatest joys were when the whole family could be together.

Beth is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul, children Heidi Ross (John) of Middleton, David Dvorak (Cheryl) of Shoreview, MN, Amy Weber (Greg) of Eleva, WI, Peter of Madison and her adored dog, Dudley; grandchildren Jake, Carley and Emily Ross, Sam, Josh, Maddie and Joey Weber, and Sydney and Tim Dvorak. She is further survived by her mother-in-law Marguerite Boyer and sisters-in-law M. Danielle Lappen (Dick) and Faith Limmer (Donald).
