Madison - Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Walker Gill, age 78, died peacefully on Sept. 18th with her family. She was born in College Park, MD, on April 21, 1944, to Irene B. Walker and Earnest A. Walker. A graduate of Wellesley College, she went on to earn her Masters at UW-Madison. She married John Arthur Gill on June 14, 1969, in College Park, MD. They settled in Madison, WI, and raised two sons, David, and Tim Gill. A devout Methodist she was an active member of First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in downtown Madison, WI. Liz actively volunteered as the music librarian for 50+ years. She also enjoyed ushering at the Overture Center. She was a long-time choir member and loved to sing. She also loved languages, traveling, and cultural experiences. She used her French traveling with her husband to several anniversaries of the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France. In recent years she cherished time with her community at Mariner’s Cove and her grandkids.
Liz is survived by her sons, David Gill and wife Chia-Chee Chiu of Houston, Tim Gill and wife Toni Drake of Middleton and their kids Evelyn and Max Gill, and sister-in-law, Jo Gill of Madison.
A funeral service will be held at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at noon, with Rev. Nancy Childress presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
