Madison - Elizabeth B. Stahmer, age 100, passed away peacefully September 27, 2012. Elizabeth was born in Fort Atkinson to WC and Ellen (Abbott) Bartelt. She graduated Fort Atkinson High School, attended college at Milton, and Whitewater, and received her Bachelor's and Master's from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Elizabeth married Reverend Daniel H Stahmer in Fort Atkinson on June 20, 1936. She taught French and Spanish at public schools in a variety of locations in the Fox River Valley. She was active in the First Methodist Church, Sunday school programs, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Silbernagel (Mike) and Katherine Stahmer; son, Dan (Jodee); and grandchildren, Lynn (Greg), David (Cindy), Mark (Erin), Matt (Youngshin), Andrew, Derek (Lisa), and December (Mike). She also leaves five great grandchildren, Jessie, Lukas, Daniel, Quinn Elizabeth, and Maxwell; and a number of granddogs. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her brother, John Bartelt; and grandson, John. Memorials in Elizabeth's name may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, First United Methodist Church, and Hundenruhe Haven Senior Dog Sanctuary. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:00 am at CAPITOL LAKES HEALTH CENTER AUDITORIUM, 333 W. Main, Madison. There will be a time of sharing following the service.
