Madison - Elizabeth “Betty” Taylor, age 86, passed away on Friday September 9, 2022, in Cottage Grove.
She was born November 9Th, 1935 in Monroe County, the daughter of Virgil and Juanita McCollough.
She graduated from LaFarge High School in 1953, married her high school sweetheart Orville Taylor on May 21st, 1955. They celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to Orv’s passing in 2019.
Betty loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed camping, playing cards, doing crosswords, wordsearches, bowling and an occasional trip to the casino.
She will be greatly missed by her friends and family for her kindness and desire to host gatherings as she was our social butterfly.
She spent most of her working years in food service and the last years of her career in the Madison School system.
She is survived by two sons Michael (special friend Kris Oren Nelson) and Roger, a daughter Linda (Brian) Hoth; daughter in law Kelly Taylor; seven grandchildren Annie (Ryan) McClain, Kevin (Michelle) Taylor, Phillip (Raquel) Taylor, Nicholas Taylor (special friend Kayla Schiesser), Hillary Taylor, Ashley (John) Mortenson, Trevor (Sarah) Hoth, eight great grandchildren; a sister Carol (Red) Auderer and close family friend Cori Bradley and her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Juanita McCollough, husband Orville, and son Jerry also brothers Larry, Jack, Lyle, and sisters Patricia, Beatrice.
Thank you to Agrace Hospice Care who provided Betty and her family support and compassionate care.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday September 14, 2022, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave. Madison with Rev. Mike Dissmore presiding, a luncheon will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:30 PM at Highland Memory Garden in Cottage Grove. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
