Ellen Elizabeth Wolman

Ellen Elizabeth (Fram) Wolman, 59, passed away April 24, 2011 after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis and cancer.

Ellen was born December 17, 1951, to Dr. Paul and Virginia Ruth (Osborne) Fram in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Mahtomedi High School (MN) in 1969 and from the University of Minnesota 1973. Ellen and Richard Wolman married in 1974 and lived throughout the country before settling in Madison, WI in 2000.

Ellen will be remembered as a person who lived to enable the success of others before taking a moment for herself. She spent her life raising her boys to successful men and fostering her husband's pursuit of academic medicine. Ellen was active in various Jewish organizations, a founding member of Chesterfield Little League (VA), and president of her children's school PTA. She will forever be admired for her athletic prowess, competitive spirit, and commitment to sportsmanship. Since 2004, along with family and friends, she spent many of her summer days at their cabin where she enjoyed nature, and not surprisingly, the joy this brought to those with whom she shared the experience.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 36 years Dr. Richard L. Wolman, her children Dr. Marc Wolman of Philadelphia, PA and Jay Wolman (and girlfriend Ashley) of La Crosse, WI. She is also survived by her mother Virginia Ruth (Osborne) Fram, her brother Daniel Witt Fram and sister-in-law Ruth Fram, all of St. Paul, MN, as well as her mother-in-law Estelle Wolman of Delray Beach, FL, sister-in-law Rise Mandel of Nanuet, NY, and many loving aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, and nephews throughout the country. She was preceded in death by her father Dr. Paul Fram and father-in-law Eli Wolman.

Services will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53705. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the National MS Society - WI Chapter, 1120 James Dr. Suite A. Hartland, WI 53029, or the Beth Israel Center Building Fund, 1406 Mound Street, Madison, WI 53711.
