Ellsworth H. Swingen, age 90, passed away at Skaalen Home in Stoughton on Thursday, March 25, 2010. Â He was born in Stoughton on April 28, 1919, a son of Gilbert and Sena (Granrud) Swingen. Â Ellsworth served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII, as a member of the 99th bomber group, 416 squadron, in the Africa and Italy campaigns. Â On December 1, 1945, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Stevens in Fort Atkinson. Â Ellsworth was an avid badger fan and golfer, a member of First Lutheran Church, The Elks, The VFW and The American Legion. Â He was a good, honest, and hardworking man who loved and was devoted to his family. Â He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; son Douglas (Judi) Swingen; daughter, Yvonne (Art) Sorenson; daughter-in-law, Enid Swingen; 9 grandchildren, Sena, Sara, Jorli, Tia, Chad, Sonya, Todd, Jeni, and Lindsey; 2 great- grandchildren, Gabriel and Sara B.; 2 brothers, Leonard and LaVerne (Bonnie) Swingen; and many nieces and nephews. Â He was preceded in death by a son, James Ellsworth Swingen; a sister, Marie Morrison; and 4 brothers, Clarence, Gilman, Robert, and Donald Swingen. Â Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington, Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Â The family will greet friends at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton on Sunday, March 28 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and again at church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Â Following the service, Military Rites will be held outside the church. Â Committal at the Roselawn Mausoleum in Monona will take place after a lunch at church. Â In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skaalen Home, or the First Lutheran Church.
