Eloise J. ""Elly"" Gibson Madison/StoughtonEloise Josephine ""Elly"" Gibson, age 92, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Nazareth House. Elly was born on January 18, 1917 in Madison, the daughter of the late Joseph and Wilhemina ""Minnie"" (Neubauer) Cleven. She graduated from Madison East High School in 1934. Elly worked at various jobs well into her eighties including the years she raised her five children, and throughout always received exemplary reviews. She enjoyed cards, bingo, cribbage, bowling, golfing, birds, gardening and writing.  She was proud of her family and they were ""the light of her life.""  Elly is survived by her loving family including: 5 children, Beth ( Gary) Leverton, Ronelle Wedig, Eloise (Allan) Christensen, Guy (Mina) Gibson, and Joe Gibson; 7 grandchildren, Lee Leverton, Lori Luetzow, Melissa Hubbuch, Lori Larsen, Kelly Coleman, and Shonn and Lindsey Gibson; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 nephew, 2 nieces, and many cousins.  She was preceded in death by her special grandsons, Brandon Wedig, and Christopher Gibson; a sister, Betty Held; and brother, Lorch Cleven.  A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, July 15 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect, Stoughton, with the Rev. Scott Geister-Jones officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nazareth House, 814 Jackson St., Stoughton, WI 53589 or HospiceCare, Inc., 3001 W. Memorial Drive, Janesville, WI 53548.  The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Nazareth House for their loving care and for bringing out the best in Mom. They also wish to thank Care Wisconsin for their long-term assistance and Hospice for the wonderful care and emotional support given to both Elly and her family.  Elly leaves behind a legacy of a feisty spirit and a sharp wit.  ""Life is like an onion; you peel off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.""                        C.
