Elsa Hoidale Johnson, 99, of Madison Wisconsin passed away on October 3, 2013 at Attic Angel Place. She was born on January 14, 1914 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Einar and Martha Hoidale. On July 18, 1936 she married Everett Johnson and moved to Madison. Elsa found joy in serving others, and did so through her many volunteer activities. Chapter V PEO (past president), Attic Angel Association (secretary), and United Way were among her favorites. She was active in all of her children's activities, especially with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. She loved nature and felt at home enjoying a full range of outdoor activities. She is survived by her children Byron (Ann), Dale (Lynn), and Martha (Peter) and her grandchildren Ken, Janelle, Blair, Brad, Kathryn, Leif, Sylvie, Mark, Erich, and Nick, as well as 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ev, and her son, Richard. There will be a Celebration of Life at Attic Angel Place, 8301 Old Sauk Road, Middleton WI 53562 at 2 PM on Saturday October 26, 2013. Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice, Attic Angel Association, and Rick's House of Hope. A special thanks to all who provided such loving care and support through her final days. Elsa's grace and compassion enriched the lives of all she touched through her unwavering ability to see the best in every person and every situation. She leaves a legacy of humor, unconditional love, and service for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She exhibited that same beauty and serenity found in nature, and is a perfect example of a life well lived.
