MADISON, WI- Elsie E. Reynolds, age 95, died peacefully on October 28, 2009, at Oakwood Lutheran Homes, where she resided the last seven years. Prior to her move to Madison, she lived for seven years in California. Elsie was born Elsie Gerhardt in Milwaukee on January 24, 1914, but lived most of her life on Sangamon Street in Steger. She was a graduate of Bloom High School, class of 1931. She enjoyed playing team sports, card games and dancing. Elsie loved her work as a bookkeeper, her summers with family at Bass Lake, Indiana, and retirement with her husband in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. She was a loving and generous friend to many, including her extended family of the Reynolds' and Gerhardts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James L. ""Dutch"" Reynolds; her parents, Emilie and Gustav Gerhardt; her brother, Paul Gerhardt; and her sister, Caroline Kohn. She is survived by her sons, Ronald J. (Carla) Reynolds of Madison, WI and Terry L. (Amelia) Reynolds of Irvine, California; and her granddaughters, Julie Reynolds of San Diego, California and Suzanne Reynolds of Minneapolis, Minnesota. A service was held in Madison at Oakwood Village West. She will be interred at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Steger next to her beloved Dutch. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
